Our recent game development work at Roobs World has focused on two different kinds of puzzle play: word-solving in Riddle Quest and competitive match-3 in Puzzle Punks. Across both projects, the aim is the same: give players more reasons to return, and make the journey from opening the game to enjoying a session more dependable.

This update reflects the work and release status as of 8 October 2026. Puzzle Punks is already live on Jest. Riddle Quest’s tested build is active on Jest and has been submitted for review, with public launch awaiting approval. Some newer improvements are still in development or verification; we’ve called those out below.

Riddle Quest: more ways to solve and compete

Riddle Quest still starts with a clue, a word guess and colour-coded feedback. Classic Mode offers ongoing progression, while the Daily Challenge gives players a fresh reason to come back. Recent updates add a stronger competitive and social layer around that core.

Race to 10 brings live head-to-head play. Players choose a category, meet in a lobby and start after a shared countdown. Both receive the same server-selected questions, with progress visible throughout the match. Hints and skips carry time penalties, so the result reflects adjusted completion time rather than simply who reaches the finish screen first. The server handles scoring and rewards, including protection against duplicate settlement after retries.

Friend challenges make that competition more personal. Supported Jest and Facebook builds use the host platform’s invitation or sharing flow to open a private match. The recipient chooses whether to join. Platform support and delivery still matter here: successful invitation-flow checks do not establish that every notification or invitation has reached a real player’s device.

Progression that gives players more to work towards

The recent Riddle Quest economy update makes help more affordable, with rebalanced coin costs for hints and extra attempts. Shop descriptions explain what a pack can buy in gameplay terms, and larger Jest coin bundles offer progressively better value.

There are also 12 additional solo achievement milestones, covering wins, riddles played, Classic progression, Daily play and XP. Their names and descriptions are translated across the game’s 16 supported languages. Reward handling checks that an already-settled achievement cannot pay out again.

These changes give occasional players reachable goals and regular solvers longer-term milestones, while keeping the focus on solving the next clue.

A more dependable session

Much of the latest Riddle Quest work happens between visible screens. Recovery changes cover interrupted question delivery, lobby reloads, connection loss and retries. The goal is to preserve the player’s authoritative progress and avoid restarting work or awarding the same result twice.

Recent engineering changes also prepare puzzle content and hints ahead of use, reduce unnecessary work during unchanged live-race updates, and improve startup and backend request handling. Further work verified locally on 8 October stops retired game frames from starting new optional content warmups. That newer lifecycle work remains separate from the build already submitted to Jest.

The release candidate has passed production and browser checks, including two hosted Jest launch checklists at 20/20 and a ten-minute mobile soak. Those checks provide evidence for the tested build and sessions; they are not a promise of identical loading times on every device or connection.

Riddle Quest is now in Jest review. The tested version is active for the protected testing session, but this is not a public launch announcement. We’ll share the playable release details once approval and publication are confirmed.

Puzzle Punks: customisation and shop improvements

Puzzle Punks brings colourful characters and head-to-head competition to match-3, with a Unity WebGL build available on Jest.

Recent development work has improved the systems around that play:

  • Tile customisation is available from the start, with collection ownership refreshed from the player’s inventory.
  • Tile and character selections receive stronger save and restore handling, so the game can carry the player’s choices between sessions.
  • Starter-pack handling now checks recorded ownership, improving shop visibility and preventing the pack from being offered again once it has been purchased.
  • Shop reward presentation has been refined, including gem animations and the order in which collected rewards appear.
  • Jest identity and sharing are better integrated, using the platform username by default and its referral flow for live challenges.

These are changes in the recent development history. The public listing is live, but that alone does not confirm that every change described here has passed acceptance on every hosted build.

Making the first launch more reliable

The newest Puzzle Punks work addresses an intermittent startup failure. In one hosted investigation, Unity did not reach an interactive screen before Jest returned to its home page. The original chat error did not reproduce in that run, so it has not been established as the cause.

A new browser-side loading helper now starts before Unity finishes booting. It sends progress updates to Jest during early loading, shares the SDK download with the Unity integration, and hands responsibility over when the game’s own loading updates begin. It leaves completion tied to the first usable screen rather than declaring the game ready too early.

The candidate passed 54 focused checks, and its WebGL player compiled and linked. Release packaging then stopped because the estimated first load exceeded the project’s existing size limit. This loading fix has not been published, and the first-run issue is still undergoing hosted verification. The next step is to bring the candidate within budget and test fresh and returning sessions against the exact build.
